Roma confirm that they have sacked head coach Ivan Juric after just 12 games in the role, and ex-Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is being tipped to succeed him.

Roma have confirmed that head coach Ivan Juric has been relieved of his duties after a dismal 12-match reign.

The former Torino head coach took over in the middle of September after the Giallorossi sacked club legend Daniele de Rossi, and he made a positive start to his reign with two wins from his first three matches in charge.

However, Juric only oversaw another two victories from his further nine matches at the helm in Serie A and the Europa League, and his side suffered a disheartening 3-2 loss at home to Bologna on Sunday.

That defeat at Stadio Olimpico saw Roma's winless run stretch to three matches in all competitions, following a 1-1 draw with Union SG in the Europa League and identical 3-2 loss away to Hellas Verona in the top flight.

Roma's poor form domestically has them lying in an unremarkable 12th place in the Serie A table, only four points above the relegation zone and a further nine adrift of Lazio in sixth place.

The Giallorossi are also languishing in 20th place in the 36-team Europa League table with just one win from their opening four continental contests, four points off the top eight places that would guarantee a spot in the knockout rounds.

Roma did not even let the dust settle from Sunday's defeat before announcing Juric's departure, and they have revealed that they expect to make an announcement regarding a new manager within a few days.

"We would like to thank Ivan Juric for his hard work these past weeks," Roma said in a statement. "He handled a difficult environment with the utmost professionalism, and for that we are grateful. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours. The search for a new head coach has already begun and we expect an announcement in the coming days."

Juric's exit means that Roma are now searching for their fourth manager of 2024, as Jose Mourinho started the calendar year as Giallorossi head coach before being sacked in the middle of January.

Who could replace Juric as Roma manager?

Roma's bullish statement suggests that they are confident of wrapping up a deal for a new head coach imminently, and according to Sky Sport Italia correspondent Angelo Mangiante - via Football Italia - Roberto Mancini is in the running.

The 59-year-old has been out of work since leaving his position as head coach of the Saudi Arabia national team in late October, and the 2011-12 Premier League winner with Manchester City has not managed in Serie A since his second spell with Inter Milan from 2014 to 2016.

Following the November international break, Roma return to Serie A action away to Scudetto-chasing Napoli on November 24, four days before hading to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League. body check tags ::
