Sports Mole previews Tuesday's Scottish Premiership clash between Ross County and St Mirren, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

St Mirren will be bidding to make it successive wins in the Scottish Premiership when they travel to Ross County on Tuesday night.

The visitors, who are third in the table, will enter the contest off the back of a 1-0 victory over Livingston, while 10th-placed Ross County drew 0-0 with Kilmarnock in their last match.

Match preview

Ross County's winless run in the Scottish Premiership stretched to nine matches on Saturday, when they were held to a goalless draw by Kilmarnock.

Derek Adams's side have struggled for consistency this term, boasting a record of two wins, five draws and six defeats from their 13 matches, which has left them in 10th position in the table on 11 points.

The Staggies are without a victory in the Scottish Premiership since a 1-0 success over Kilmarnock at the start of September, but they have drawn more than they have lost of late, sharing the points in five of their last nine fixtures in the top flight of Scottish football.

Ross County have only won two of their last 10 league games with St Mirren, and they have one of the poorer defensive records in the division this term, conceding 21 times in their 13 fixtures, which will be a concern ahead of a clash with the team currently third in the table.

St Mirren were 1-0 winners over Livingston on Saturday, with an own goal from Sean Kelly in the 37th minute of the match proving to be the difference between the two sides.

The victory was the team's first in the Scottish Premiership since the end of October, and it moved them onto 22 points in the division, which is enough for third.

St Mirren are two points ahead of fourth-placed Hearts and six behind Rangers in second, so it has been a successful campaign to date for a side that finished sixth last term.

The Saints have netted 19 times in their 13 league games this term, which is the fourth-best attacking record in the division, and the goals have been shared around this season, which is certainly a positive.

St Mirren's record away record is a concern, though, losing three of their last four matches on their travels in all competitions, with their last success coming in the middle of September against Motherwell.

Team News

Ross County will be missing two players through injury on Tuesday, as Jay Henderson is still suffering with a hamstring problem, while Ben Paton is out with a knee issue.

There were plenty of positives to take from the goalless draw with Kilmarnock last time out, and there is again expected to be a start for Yan Dhanda in the false nine position.

Simon Murray is the team's leading goalscorer in the league this season with three, and the 31-year-old will also be included in an attacking area for the hosts.

St Mirren, meanwhile, will again be without the services of midfielder Ryan Strain due to a groin issue.

The visitors are otherwise in good shape, though, and it would not be a shock to see the same XI that started the one-goal success over Livingston on Saturday.

Mikael Mandron has scored three times in the league this season and should continue in the final third of the field, while there is also expected to be a second appearance in quick succession for Jonah Ayunga.

Ross County possible starting lineup:
Laidlaw; Nightingale, Baldwin, Leak; Brown, Allardice, Randall, Purrington; Murray, Dhanda, Sims

St Mirren possible starting lineup:
Hemming; Fraser, Gogic, Taylor; McMenamin, Kiltie, O'Hara, Boyd-Munce, Tanser; Ayunga, Mandron

We say: Ross County 1-1 St Mirren

Only one team - Hibernian - have drawn more games in the Scottish Premiership this season than Ross County, and we are expecting the points to be shared again here. St Mirren are the favourites, but this could be a tricky affair, and we are predicting a low-scoring draw on Tuesday night.
