More than 100 football fans were arrested after trouble erupted between supporters of Russia and Poland prior to their Euro 2012 match on Tuesday.
It is understood that both sets of fans clashed with police and as a result, tear gas, plastic bullets and water cannons were used.
In addition to the 100 arrests, 10 people are understood to have been injured despite a number of security measures.
"We are still monitoring the situation and trying to identify the supporters involved. The operation is not over from our side as we continue in our attempts to catch those who are causing trouble," a police spokesman said.
Trouble luckily did not spill into the stadium, where the two teams finished level at 1-1 after a pulsating encounter.
