Russia forward Alan Dzagoev has admitted that luck was not with his side during their 2-1 European Under-21 Championship defeat to Germany on Wednesday night.
Dzagoev said that his team were also sloppy when presented with chances, which combined with their bad luck led to their elimination from the tournament on zero point.
"It was a good performance," UEFA.com quotes Dzagoev as saying. "If you talk from the point of view of control of the ball and good chances, then before the dismissal we were better than our opponents.
"We tried today, and had chances to equalise, but at certain moments we were not lucky and in some, probably, we did not have enough quality. We were better today. Against the Dutch, they had more of the ball but today we were improved."
Germany are also eliminated from the tournament despite the win.
