Juventus lose their 100% start to the Serie A campaign after being held to a 1-1 draw by winless Sassuolo at the Marpei Stadium.

Juventus's winning start to the season has come to an end after they were held to a 1-1 draw by winless Sassuolo at the Marpei Stadium this evening.

A shock was on the cards early on when Italian international Simone Zaza latched onto a pass before placing the ball beyond the reach of Gianluigi Buffon to put the hosts ahead.

Their lead lasted for just four minutes, though, with Paul Pogba finding the top corner of the net from range to level up the contest in style.

Angelo Ogbonna very nearly put the Old Lady into the lead when he tried his luck with a shot from the edge of the box, only for his effort to narrowly fly over the crossbar.

Juventus upped the pressure in search of a second before the interval, and they came close to finding it when Pogba weaved his way into the box, yet his drilled shot was well kept out by Andrea Consigli.

It proved to be a frustrating second half for the league leaders, who struggled to create any clear-cut openings throughout.

Claudio Marchisio saw his effort deflect narrowly wide of the target on the hour mark, while Kingsley Coman blazed his strike from inside the box over the crossbar.

Zaza remained a threat for Sassuolo, forcing Buffon into a save as well as putting a dangerous looking ball into the box which was eventually cleared away.

Despite throwing all that they had at their opponents in search of a winning goal, Massimiliano Allegri's charges could not find a second and so saw their 100% record this campaign come to an end.

Matters were then made even worse for Juve when Simone Padoin was shown a red card at the end of the game following an incident which took place on the substitutes' bench.

The draw lifts Sassuolo off the foot of the Serie A table, while Juve's lead at the top has been cut to just a single point.
