Sassuolo have maintained their recent revival with a 2-0 victory over Atalanta BC, climbing away from the relegation zone as their unbeaten run extends to three matches.
Atalanta arrived at the Stadio Città del Tricolore with injury problems that got far worse early on, with Gianpaolo Bellini and Guglielmo Stendardo both forced off with knocks.
The visitors threatened through German Denis and Maxi Moralez either side of the interval, but fell behind just after the hour mark when Simone Zaza tapped home from close range after Domenico Berardi's free kick had been parried back into his path.
Three minutes later Berardi got in on the act with his seventh goal of the season, sending a low drive into the bottom corner to secure three precious points for the promoted outfit.
