World Cup 2022: Saudi Arabia vs. Mexico head-to-head record

:Headline: World Cup 2022: Saudi Arabia vs. Mexico head-to-head record:
Ahead of Wednesday's World Cup clash between Saudi Arabia and Mexico, Sports Mole looks back at the previous meetings between the two sides.

Saudi Arabia and Mexico will battle it out for a place in the knockout stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup when they face off at the Lusail Iconic Stadium on Wednesday.

Herve Renard's men sit third in Group B with three points from their opening two matches, and a victory on matchday three would see them through to the last 16, although a draw could also suffice.

On the other hand, Gerardo Martino's men sit bottom of the group, meaning that anything less than a victory in their final group-stage match would see them crash out of football's biggest tournament.

Mexico will head into their encounter against the Green Falcons with history on their side, as they boast a pretty good record in the previous five editions of this fixture.

Three of the clashes have come in the FIFA Confederations Cup, where El Tri have recorded 2-0, 5-1 and 5-0 victories against Saudi Arabia.

The other two meetings have come in international friendlies, with Mexico claiming a 2-1 victory in 1995 before settling for a share of the spoils in 1998.

Overall, the North Americans are unbeaten against their opponents from the Middle East heading into Wednesday's contest, which is arguably the most significant encounter between the sides.
