Vitesse's hopes of catching third-placed Feyenoord have been boosted after a brace from Bertrand Traore helped them beat SBV Excelsior 3-1.
The visitors took the lead six minutes before the break when Chelsea loanee Josh McEachran played a slide-rule pass for Zakaria Labyad and the winger teed up Traore for his 10th goal of the campaign.
However, Excelsior were back on level terms within two minutes when Tom van Weert turned Adil Auassar's cross past keeper Eloy Room following a defensive mix up.
Vitesse attempted to force the issue early in the second half, with Traore trying to unleash a shot before Excelsior saw off any danger.
However, Traore managed to put the Arnhem outfit ahead with 18 minutes remaining after turning home McEachran's pinpoint delivery.
Vitesse wrapped up the points in stoppage time when Renato Ibarra added a third for the visitors.
