SBV Excelsior have inflicted a first defeat of the Eredivisie season on FC Twente this evening with a 2-1 win at the Stadion Woudestein.
The visitors found themselves ahead with less than two minutes played as Luc Castaignos picked out the top corner of the net when played through on goal.
Tom van Weert levelled up the scoring shortly after when he found a way past Nick Marsman, although Jesus Corona could have swung the game back in the Reds' favour if he had made the most of his own chance at the other end.
Twente were largely in command in the second half, but it was Excelsior who edged ahead on the 78-minute mark when Jeff Stans made the most of his chance to put the Kralingers on course for a first win in six.
Alfred Schreuder's charges were unable to find a way through in the remaining time, meaning that they drop to eighth place in the league table.
