Schalke have revealed that they are keen for Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to remain with the club.
The Dutch international has been linked with a transfer over the last few weeks, with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur credited with an interest.
However, the German club are eager for the 28-year-old to stay put.
"If we want quality, then we have got to push ourselves to the pain barrier," Schalke general manager Horst Heldt told Bild.
"We will not tie Huntelaar to the negotiation table and torture him, but he does know that we really value him here. He feels happy here too."
Huntelaar's contract with Schalke is due to expire in 2013.
