Felix Platte has been given a starting spot in the Schalke 04 side for the Bundesliga clash with Werder Bremen at the Veltins Arena.
The 19-year-old impressed in a substitute appearance as Schalke lost to Real Madrid in the Champions League in midweek, and he leads the attack in just his second league game with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar still suspended.
There are also recalls for Max Meyer and Tranquillo Barnetta as Roberto Di Matteo decides to leave out Dennis Aogo and Kevin-Prince Boateng, who both start on the bench for the hosts.
Werder, who have won their last five Bundesliga matches, are still without the injured Philipp Bargfrede, but Viktor Skrypnyk does have the luxury of naming an unchanged side as the visitors look to close the gap on the top six.
Schalke: Wellenreuther, Barnetta, Howedes, Matip, Nastasic, Fuchs, Neustädter, Hoger, Meyer, Platte, Choupo-Moting
Werder: Wolf, Gebre Selassie, Vestergaard, Lukimya, Garcia, Kroos, Fritz, Junuzovic, Bartels, Selke, Di Santo
