Scunthorpe United have defeated Morecambe 2-0 at Glanford Park to move up to third in League Two.
The visitors were in control of proceedings right at the start, with Stewart Drummond trying his luck from distance on nine minutes but in vain.
It did not take long for Scunthorpe to break the deadlock, though, as Deon Burton turned in Christian Ribeiro's pass from just yards out.
Visiting goalkeeper Barry Roche did well to keep out Marcus Williams's effort on goal just before the half-hour mark, before David Syers shot wide.
Then moments later Burton fired in from outside the Morecambe box to make it 2-0 to Scunthorpe.
Syers and Sean McAllister tried their luck to increase the lead before the break, while Jack Sampson dragged his effort wide nine minutes into the second half.
Scunthorpe continued to press on for their third goal as the match progressed with Syers and McAllister testing Roche, but their two first-half goals proved enough.
