San Jose Earthquakes have handed the Seattle Sounders a 1-0 defeat in Washington tonight.
Both sides committed a number of early fouls in the first half, before Seattle defender Matt Burch conceded a penalty for a foul in the area on the 24-minute mark.
San Jose forward Chris Wondolowski converted from the spot to give his side the lead, which the visitors held until the half-time break.
Seattle dominated possession in the second half, but were unable to beat Earthquakes keeper Ramiro Corrales and the San Jose defence, with David Estrada's last-minute header going wide of the mark.
