Jose Antonio Reyes confirms Sevilla exit

Spanish attacker Jose Antonio Reyes reveals his 'devastation' as he prepares to leave Sevilla for a second time.

Jose Antonio Reyes has confirmed that he will leave Sevilla on a free transfer next month.

The 32-year-old started his career with Sevilla - representing the Spanish outfit from 1994 until 2004, when he departed for Premier League side Arsenal.

After spells with Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Benfica, the former Spanish international returned to Sevilla in 2012 and has helped the club win three consecutive Europa League crowns.

Reyes's contract has not been renewed, however, and the attacker has admitted that he is 'devastated' to be leaving the Estadio Ramon for a second time.

"The first time I left I went tearfully but happy because my departure helped to financially stabilise my team. I knew it would and it did. Today my intention was to continue with this great family and finish my career in the same place it started," Reyes posted on Instagram.

"Much to my regret I have no other choice but to leave again. I'll return to tears and I want you to remember me as someone who fought to the end for our badge. Throughout my life this has been my team and I'll take you in my heart wherever I go.

"Thanks to all the fans for their support. Without you I wouldn't be what I am. I'm proud to have as captain lifted the trophy we so craved. My family will always be Sevilla."

Reyes made 96 appearances for Sevilla during his first spell, before racking up another 157 between 2012 and 2016.
