Shakhtar Donetsk have claimed the first win of their Champions League campaign with a 4-0 dismantling of Malmo in Group A.
Both sides created chances in a lively first period before Oleksandr Gladky fired the hosts in front, scrambling the ball over the line after his initial header was parried by Johan Wiland.
Shakhtar's second came from the penalty spot early in the second period after Alex Teixeira was pulled down in the area by Kari Arnason, allowing Darijo Srna to step up and beat Wiland from 12 yards.
The Ukrainians were out of sight in the 55th minute when Eduardo netted their third. The former Arsenal man bundled the ball over the line after retrieving an attempted shot from Bernard to add some gloss to the scoreline.
Shakhtar's fourth came through Teixeira, who drove the ball home from close range after Wiland could only parry a vicious strike from Taison.
It was a night to forget for Malmo, a fact that was compounded in stoppage time when a second yellow card for Arnason reduced them to 10 men.
The result sees Shakhtar leapfrog Malmo into third place in Group A on goal difference. Both sides have three points with two games left to play.
