Peter Schmeichel has rejected speculation that he has lodged an application to become the new manager of League One side Sheffield United.
A report last night claimed that the former Manchester United goalkeeper was eager to take charge of the Blades, who have been without a boss since David Weir was sacked late last week.
"I can see that I've been linked with the vacant managers job at Sheffield United - this is not my doing. I have not applied for any jobs, but it's great to be associated with such a great football club," the 49-year-old tweeted.
Former Derby County manager Nigel Clough is the current favourite with the majority of the bookmakers to be given the job.
