Sheffield United have announced that they have sacked head coach Slavisa Jokanovic, replacing him with Paul Heckingbottom.
The Blades ended a four-match winless streak earlier this week with a 1-0 victory being recorded against Reading in the Championship.
However, the win was just the sixth in 19 matches under Jokanovic, Sheffield United only sitting in 16th position.
Despite the result in midweek, the Yorkshire outfit have opted to remove the Serbian from his position, handing a second opportunity to Heckingbottom.
The 44-year-old was placed in interim charge towards the end of the last campaign, winning three of 11 fixtures as his team were relegated from the Premier League.
Although they favoured the appointment of Jokanovic in the summer, the United hierarchy have now provided Heckingbottom with a four-and-a-half-year contract at Bramall Lane. body check tags ::
