Glenn Murray missed a first-half penalty as Sheffield Wednesday and Reading played out a goalless first 45 minutes of their Championship clash at Hillsborough.
Reading started well with Murray testing Wednesday's goal early on, as Glenn Loovens did well to deflect the shot wide.
Reading should have taken the lead on the half-hour mark after Murray was brought down by in the box by Giles Coke only for the Crystal Palace loanee Murray to see his spot-kick saved by Keiren Westwood.
Owls winger Jacques Maghoma was energetic throughout the first half and was causing the Reading defence problems before the half-time whistle.
