Sheffield Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal has said that Stoke City "deserved to win" the League Cup quarter-final at the Britannia Stadium.
Mark Hughes's side emerged as 2-0 victors as Ibrahim Afellay and Phil Bardsley netted their first goals for the Potters.
Despite exiting the competition, Carvalhal told BBC Sport that his team "gave everything" to reach the last eight.
He said: "I must congratulate my team for what we have done in his competition. I congratulate Stoke City, they deserved to win and have a very good quality.
"I'm not unhappy with the team, I thank the fans who pushed the team all the way.
"The fans are amazing. They are unbelievable. We gave everything for them on the pitch."
Stoke City will now compete in the semi-finals of the League Cup for the first time in 43 years.
