Sheffield Wednesday head coach Carlos Carvalhal has praised Marco Matias following his spectacular goal against Leeds United.
The summer signing from Nacional put the Owls ahead with a stunning volley at Elland Road on Saturday before Leeds fought back in the second half to earn a 1-1 draw.
Carvalhal believes that 26-year-old Portuguese will prove to be a valuable player for Wednesday this season.
"Marco is a player who has come into the Championship and he was a big influence in our team today," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.
"He will be an even better player in the future because he was very tired when he came off with 15 minutes left and we have played a lot of games in a very short time.
"Marco's goal was very special. He showed excellent technique. He wasn't so good against Reading in midweek but he made up for that today."
Wednesday are back in action on Tuesday when they host Oxford United in the second round of the League Cup.
