Sheffield Wednesday move back into the top two of League One while Chesterfield thrash fellow strugglers Wycombe to move off the bottom of the table. Sports Mole looks back at Monday's action.

Sheffield Wednesday have moved back into the top two of League One after beating struggling Oldham Athletic 3-0 at Hillsborough.

Goals from Gary Madine, Miguel Llera and Ryan Lowe ensured that Wednesday's unbeaten streak now stretches to 10 games, while Oldham have now lost five in a row and could be dragged into the relegation battle if things don't improve soon.

Charlton moved one step closer to securing the title with a 1-0 win over Walsall, who remain just four points clear of the bottom four.

Huddersfield's hopes of making a late automatic promotion challenge took a big blow when they lost 2-0 to Bournemouth, while MK Dons put three past Tranmere to all but secure a play-off place.

Carlisle dropped out of the play-off spaces courtesy of a 0-0 draw with Scunthorpe and were replaced by Notts County, who beat Yeovil 3-1.

Stevanage's play-off hopes took a hit after only managing a draw with Preston, leaving them six points adrift of sixth place.

Meanwhile at the bottom, Exeter and Chesterfield both recorded vital wins to keep themselves in the battle for survival, the former beating Leyton Orient 3-0, meaning Orient drop down to 20th, and the latter thrashing 21st-placed Wycombe 4-0 to move off the bottom of the table.

Rochdale will face Sheffield United tomorrow in a match that could all but condemn the home side to League Two football next season and move United back into the automatic promotion spots.

League One results: Bournemouth 2-0 Huddersfield; Bury 4-1 Colchester; Carlisle 0-0 Scunthorpe; Charlton 1-0 Walsall; Chesterfield 4-0 Wycombe; Exeter 3-0 Leyton Orient; Hartlepool 0-0 Brentford; MK Dons 3-0 Tranmere; Notts County 3-1 Yeovil; Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 Oldham; Stevenage 1-1 Preston
