Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Steve McPhail has insisted that caretaker-boss Stuart Gray is the right man to lead the club to survival.
Wednesday are currently managerless and in the Championship relegation zone, with just three wins in the league to date.
Despite this, former Cardiff City captain McPhail has put faith in Gray who has taken temporary charge following the dismissal of Dave Jones.
"Stuart Gray hasn't changed things massively but he has kept things more simple and his training sessions are really enjoyable and very upbeat," McPhail told the club's official website.
"Personally I would like Stuart to get the job. He's managed in the past, he a great coach and knows everyone inside out so yes, I would like to see it and I think he deserves it after the recent wins."
The Yorkshire club will be looking to climb out of the bottom three when they take on Wigan Athletic at Hillsborough tonight.
