Fiorentina have registered a narrow 1-0 win against Siena away from home in Serie A.
Vincenzo Montella's side surged ahead in the 14th minute when Gonzalo Rodriguez turned in Manuel Pasqual's cross from close range.
Stevan Jovetic came close to doubling the Viola's lead in the 27th minute with a shot from outside the Siena box, but failed to keep it on target.
Then on 35 minutes, Borja Valero saw his attempt turned away by Gianluca Pegolo and Marcelo Larrondo headed Juan Cuadrado's cross wide from close range.
Fiorentina continued to dominate proceedings in the second half, as Cuadrado tested Pegolo in the 54th minute before Giulio Migliaccio headed wide.
Siena also created some half-chances as the second half progressed and were unlucky not to equalise on 70 minutes when Alessandro Rosina rattled the Fiorentina crossbar from distance.
The visitors were also denied by the woodwork as Luca Toni's shot from close range hit the crossbar.
