Sochaux and Ajaccio remain in danger of suffering relegation from Ligue 1 this season following their goalless draw at Stade Auguste-Bonal on Saturday.
While hosts Sochaux are now two points above the drop zone, their visitors are a place and two points above them in 14th.
Ajaccio had a good chance to make the breakthrough in the opening 10 minutes of the contest when Adrian Mutu collected Dennis Oliech's pass, but the Romanian striker's effort went over the crossbar.
Sochaux's Giovanni Sio saw his header saved by Francisco Ochoa after 20 minutes, but it was Ajaccio who went close again when Mutu's header from a good position was blocked for a corner.
Ajaccio continued to have the better of the chances in the second half, as Sigamary Diarra forced Sochaux goalkeeper Simon Pouplin into making a good save.
Both sides failed to create clear-cut chances as the match progressed, although the home team could have snatched a win in the final minutes had Sloan Privat done better with his header.
