Sochaux striker Modibo Maiga has revealed that he hopes to complete a move to Newcastle United either in January or over the summer.
The Magpies tried to sign the 24-year-old last summer but they were unsuccessful in their pursuit.
However, a deal for the Malian forward is now reported to have been struck.
When asked about a move, Maigia told Footafrica365: "I do not know, we'll see.
"Next what is clear is that all players dream of playing for a club like that and I hope it will happen, either this winter or in the summer.
"There are no more problems with Sochaux, everything is back to normal."
Newcastle travel to Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday.
