Sports Mole previews Tuesday's friendly clash between South Korea and Vietnam, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

South Korea host Vietnam at the Suwon World Cup Stadium in an international friendly on Tuesday evening.

The hosts will be looking to make it three wins on the spin as they prepare for a World Cup qualifier against China next month, while the visitors are aiming to bounce back from defeats in their last two matches.

Match preview

South Korea are now on an unbeaten run of four matches in international friendlies, and they have looked particularly impressive from a defensive point of view, keeping clean sheets in their last three games.

The Taegeuk Warriors are likely to be a little disappointed with the result at the beginning of that run, drawing 1-1 at home against El Salvador, but they have since put in some impressive displays against much better sides.

Back in September, Jurgen Klinsmann's side drew 0-0 against Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium before going on to record a 1-0 victory against Saudi Arabia at St. James' Park, courtesy of a goal from Cho Gue-sung.

Last time out, South Korea ran out 4-0 winners at home against Tunisia, in what was a dominant performance at the World Cup Stadium, extending their undefeated streak heading into a game against a team they have a very good record against.

In their entire history, the Taegeuk Warriors have only taken on Vietnam on six occasions, but they have won every single game, and all the signs indicate they should stand a good chance of extending that run on Tuesday night.

The Golden Star Warriors have also played a number of friendly matches over the past few months, and they started very well, winning three games on the spin, but their form has since gone downhill.

Philippe Troussier's side are now on a two-game losing streak, coming up short in a 2-0 defeat against China on Tuesday night, before going on to lose 2-0 against Uzbekistan last time out.

Tuesday's trip to Suwon is set to be an extremely difficult test for Vietnam, given the disparity between the two nations, but the game is merely a warm-up ahead of their return to competitive action in November.

Next month, the Golden Star Warriors are set to take on the Philippines and Iraq in their World Cup qualification group, before embarking on their Asian Cup campaign in January.

Team News

South Korea are likely to make a few changes on Tuesday night heading into a game against a relatively poor side, and Hyun-Seok Hong could replace Hwang In-Beom in midfield.

Hwang Hee-Chan and Kang-In Lee may also be rested, despite the latter scoring two in the last match, with Jeong Woo-Yeong and Hwang Ui-Jo in line to come into the side.

As for Vietnam, Tien Linh Nguyen is set to lead the line, with the 25-year-old able to become his country's joint-record goalscorer if he finds the back of the net.

Another player to watch is Cong Phuong Nguyen, who scored in the 2-0 victory against Palestine back in September, and the Yokohama FC forward is set to get the nod in attack.

South Korea possible starting lineup:
Kim; Seol, Jung, Kim, Lee; Lee, Park, Hong, Jeong, Lee; Cho

Vietnam possible starting lineup:
Nguyen; Bui Hoang, Tien Anh, Tuan Tai; Duy Manh, Hung, Minh Trong, Nguyen; Nguyen, Pham; Nyugen

We say: South Korea 5-0 Vietnam

There is a huge gulf in quality between the two nations, and South Korea recently dispatched a decent Tunisia side 4-0.

As such, the hosts should have no trouble racking up a victory by a considerable margin on Tuesday night.
