Southampton defender Jose Fonte has claimed that there is enough strength in depth at the club to progress in the Capital One Cup.
The Saints travel to Sunderland on Wednesday night with the winner making it through to the quarter-finals to face Chelsea.
Despite a number of changes expected from manager Mauricio Pochettino, Fonte believes that there are plenty of players who can come in and earn a win for the club.
"It will be very hard but a few players want to show the manager he can count on them so we'll have a strong team," he told the Southern Daily Echo.
"There are a lot of other players that deserve to play. We have a very good squad with players that need minutes and game time."
Southampton reached the fourth round of last season's competition before they were beaten 3-0 by Leeds United.
