Southend United are currently foiling Fleetwood Town's attempts to reach the summit of League Two by taking a 1-0 advantage into the break of their match at Roots Hall.
The visitors can climb to the top of the table with victory in Essex, but Barry Corr has put Phil Brown's side in pole position to claim the points at the halfway stage.
After a quiet beginning to the match, the Shrimpers opened the scoring when Kevan Hurst crossed for Corr to head in his first goal since the opening day of the season.
Fleetwood came close to grabbing an immediate equaliser when Antoni Sarcevic's curling free kick beat Southend keeper Daniel Bentley, but struck the woodwork.
Bentley was called upon to ensure that the hosts maintained their advantage going into the interval when he saved well from Sarcevic, following a swift Town counter attack.
