Southend United and Portsmouth head into half-time of their League Two match level, with both sides unable to find a breakthrough.

The Blues almost conceded two minutes after kick-off when a teasing Ricky Holmes shot was stopped on the line by defender Luke Prosser.

Both sides began to push for the opening goal, with Portsmouth getting caught out on the counter-attack several times before the break.

Pompey and Phil Brown's hosts both had plenty of chances in the half, but were not clinical enough in front of goal.
