Southend United captain John White has agreed a new two-year deal with the League One club.
The 29-year-old, who arrived at Roots Hall from Colchester United in 2013, had just 12 months left to run on his previous contract.
However, the defender has now committed his future to the Shrimpers until at least the summer of 2017.
"I'm really pleased to have agreed a new deal with the club," he told the club's official website.
"The fans have always been good to me, my family and I are settled in the area and I love playing and captaining the club."
White has made a total of 99 appearances for Southend.
