Former Scotland defender Alan Hansen has insisted that the current Spanish side are the best team in history after breaking records at Euro 2012.
Spain claimed their third consecutive major tournament crown on Sunday after they outclassed Italy 4-0 in the European Championship final in Kiev.
While many regard Brazil's 1970 World Cup-winning side as the best team ever, Hansen claimed on the BBC's Match of the Day broadcast that the accolade should go to the current La Roja outfit.
"The first-half performance by Spain in the final was superlative and they should go down as the best team in history," said the former Liverpool centre-back.
"Their technical ability is better than anyone we've seen.
"We will be talking about that first-half display for 30 or 40 years."
Spain became the first side in history to win a major tournament final by a four-goal margin.
