Spain right-back Mario Gaspar has insisted that La Roja winning Friday's international friendly against England was more important than his wonder goal in the second period.
The Villarreal defender opened the scoring against England with a bicycle kick 20 minutes from time, before Santi Cazorla scored a second for the European champions late on.
Mario has said that while he enjoyed his goal, the team winning the match was more important.
"[Paco] Alcacer was blocked off, so instead of returning the ball to him I played it and finished it off," Mario told reporters. "The truth is that these goals are rarely put in practice, but the most important thing is that it went in.
"It's one of my best goals, but hopefully it gets better for us. I'm pleased [with the win]. I must prolong this run [of games] and hope to return soon. A victory over a team like England speaks for itself."
Mario was given another chance to start at right-back for his country due to Dani Carvajal and Juanfran's injury problems.
