Jordi Alba: 'Spain will bounce back against Chile'

Spain left-back Jordi Alba claims that the 2010 World Cup winners will put their 5-1 defeat against the Netherlands behind them by pulling together against Chile.

Spain left-back Jordi Alba has admitted that the mood in the team's dressing room was down following the 5-1 drubbing by the Netherlands in Salvador, but stressed that they would react by pulling together against Chile.

La Roja took the lead in the first half against Holland thanks to a Xabi Alonso penalty, but Louis van Gaal's side ran rampant in the second half as Robin van Persie, Arjen Robben and Stefan de Vrij all got on the scoresheet.

The Barcelona full-back told Marca: "They put five goals past us, which is something I don't think anyone was expecting. We were the better team in the first half, but after the break everything went against us.

"Nothing came off for us, our heads dropped after the third goal and we paid the price.

"We have to go all out against Chile to get the win. This is going to make us much stronger; the team is more united than ever. Our aim is to get through to the next round and we are going to try to do so."

Spain are currently bottom of Group B, and will take on Chile in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday.
