Spain midfielder Xabi Alonso has played down claims that he will retire from international football at the end of the World Cup.
It was reported over the weekend that the 32-year-old was ready to quit playing for his country following their final Group B game against Australia today (Monday).
However, Alonso has now revealed that he wants to consider his options before making a decision.
"I'm still not at that moment," he told Onda Cero. "I want [the World Cup] to end as soon as possible, go on holiday, disconnect a little and then decide things with time. Right now is not the time."
Alonso has won the World Cup and two European Championships during his 112 appearances for Spain.
