Swansea City forward Michu has expressed his delight after making his international debut for Spain last night.
The former Rayo Vallecano player started in Spain's 2-1 World Cup qualification victory against Belarus.
Michu has been in inspired form for Swansea since he completed the £2m switch last summer and was grateful for the opportunity to represent the national team.
"I am very pleased and very grateful. I appreciate the confidence the coach has shown in me," Michu is quoted as saying on Sky Sports News.
"I am eternally grateful to the squad, everything has been very easy. It is always tough against teams like that, we knew they were going to lock up and give us little space and few chances."
"You can dominate possession but you have to get through these games. In the second half we scored two goals, closed the game and got the three points."
Spain will seal their place at next summer's World Cup with a point against Georgia in the final group game.
