Tottenham Hotspur team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Marseille

Sports Mole rounds up Tottenham's injury and suspension news ahead of their Champions League clash with Marseille.
Sports Mole

Tottenham Hotspur will compete in the Champions League for the first time in three seasons when they face Marseille at home on Wednesday.

Antonio Conte, who has never progressed beyond the group stage of Europe's elite competition during his managerial career, will be hoping to build on a strong domestic start from his side, with Saturday's 2-1 win against Fulham maintaining their unbeaten run and third-placed spot in the Premier League.

Marseille, meanwhile, have begun the season very strongly, too, keeping pace with Paris Saint-Germain at the top of the table having gained 16 points from their opening six Ligue 1 games.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Tottenham's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their contest with Marseille in Group D.

Lucas Moura

Status: Out
Type of injury: Tendon inflammation
Possible return date: September 10 (vs. Manchester City)

Lucas Moura has missed Spurs' last three matches due to inflammation in a tendon, with Conte suggesting a quick return for the Brazilian is unlikely as "tendon inflammation doesn't finish in only one week, two weeks." Still, the weekend seems a realistic return date as that would make it three weeks since Moura was last named in a matchday squad.

Bryan Gil

Status: Doubtful
Type of injury: Unknown
Possible return date: September 10 (vs. Manchester City)

Like Moura, Bryan Gil has been out of action for Spurs' last three matches with an unknown injury, but Conte revealed the Spaniard will return to training this week with a view to an imminent return to first-team action.

TOTTENHAM'S SUSPENSION LIST

Tottenham have no players suspended for the clash with Marseille.
