Spurs were knocked out of the Europa League by Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday night, meaning that they will have to claim a top-four finish in the Premier League table in order to compete in Europe's premier competition during the 2021-22 campaign.

According to the Daily Mail, Mourinho is under mounting pressure at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and the experienced manager could lose his job if he fails to secure a top-four position.

The report claims that missing out on Champions League football would 'place significant strain' on the club's finances, particularly due to the issues already caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Spurs are currently eighth in the Premier League, six points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, with the North London club next in domestic action away to Aston Villa on Sunday.

Mourinho has only been in charge of Tottenham since November 2019, winning 43, drawing 17 and losing 22 of his 82 matches at the helm.
