Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has admitted that it is possible Gareth Bale will miss out on a reunion with former club Tottenham Hotspur as he is still struggling with a troublesome calf problem.
The 28-year-old was struck down by injury against Borussia Dortmund shortly before the international break, keeping him out for the last three weeks.
Bale, who has already missed a string of key fixtures for club and country since being ruled out last month, now faces the prospect of sitting out both Champions League fixtures against Spurs in the next fortnight.
"I can't tell you the return date for Bale," Zidane told reporters. "We have to wait and see. We know that each day is a day less - he wants to get back quickly of course.
"But on Gareth I can't say if he'll be back in the return game or not. I hope he is, but I can't assure you of anything."
Bale joined Madrid from Spurs in 2015 for a then-record sum of £85m following six years at White Hart Lane.
