Sports Mole previews Wednesday night's Champions League clash between Olympiacos and Tottenham Hotspur, including team news and predictions.

Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham Hotspur brought the feel-good factor back to N17 with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The Lilywhites will be hoping to keep up the momentum and get off to a good start in the Champions League when they travel to Piraeus to face Olympiacos on Wednesday night.

Match preview

Tottenham will be hoping to get off to a better start in this season's Champions League group stage than they did 12 months ago.

The Lilywhites' Group B campaign got off to a nightmare start in 2018 when they gifted Inter Milan three points by conceding twice in the last five minutes, having been leading 1-0 at the San Siro.

Spurs had only one point from their opening three Group B matches last season, but went on a miracle run that saw them reach a maiden Champions League final.

It's been a mixed start to the season for the men from N17, with a horror 1-0 loss to Newcastle United having largely undone the good work of wins against Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, as well as useful away draws at Manchester City and Arsenal.

Son Heung-min found his shooting boots on Saturday as he netted a brace against Roy Hodgson's hapless side, and you would expect the South Korean number seven to be a key figure for Spurs once again in the Champions League.

Last season's finalists have what appears on paper to be an easier group this season than the one they faced last term, but a trip to face a hostile atmosphere in Greece is unlikely to be plain sailing.

Pedro Martins' side sit top of the Greek Super League after three games and drubbed lowly Volos 5-0 at the Karaiskakis Stadium on Saturday.

The Greek giants do not boast too many household names, but former France star Mathieu Valbuena will certainly be one for the Lilywhites to watch out for.

Team News

Record signing Tanguy Ndombele could return to Tottenham's starting XI on Wednesday night. The 22-year-old missed the games with Newcastle and Arsenal with a hamstring injury, but returned from the bench against Palace on Saturday.

Mauricio Pochettino will still have to contend with a number of missing senior players, however.

Defenders Juan Foyth and Davinson Sanchez remain sidelined, while Kyle Walker-Peters is also unlikely to return.

Summer signing from Fulham Ryan Sessegnon could be in contention for a debut, however, with the teenager having returned to full training last week.

Fellow summer arrival Giovani Lo Celso remains a long-term absentee.

Olympiacos boss Pedro Martins will have to do without Kostas Fortounis who is out with a cruciate ligament rupture, as well as centre-back Ruben Semedo who is missing with a meniscal injury.

Olympiacos possible starting lineup:
Sa; Elabdellaoui, Meriah, Cisse, Koutris; Camara, Guilherme; Randjelovic, Valbuena, Podence; El Arabi

Tottenham possible starting lineup:
Lloris; Aurier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies; Ndombele, Sissoko; Eriksen, Alli, Son; Kane

We say: Olympiacos 0-2 Tottenham

It could be a tight affair with the Greek crowd making it an intimidating and hostile atmosphere for the Spurs players and that won't be easy for Mauricio Pochettino's men.

Last year's finalists, however, should have enough quality to come away with three points on Wednesday night, particularly with the fresh legs of Dele Alli, Tanguy Ndombele and Lucas Moura available - none of those three started on Saturday.
