Tottenham Hotspur manager Nuno Espirito Santo has confirmed that Steven Bergwijn will start in Thursday's Europa Conference League tie with Vitesse.
The Dutch winger has been sidelined with an ankle injury sustained against Rennes in the competition last month and missed six games across all competitions during his recovery.
Bergwijn returned to the bench for Sunday's win over Newcastle United, though, and Santo is confident that the 24-year-old will have a big part to play going forward.
Speaking to reporters at his pre-match press conference, Santo said: "He's going to start the game, he's going to play. Stevie started the season very, very well. Unfortunately he got injured in the national team and since then he's been struggling but he's now getting back.
"It's about getting him stronger, fitter and faster and he's a very talented player. He's very unique inside our squad and he can give us a lot. We need Stevie. I repeat myself, we need Stevie."
Bergwijn has chalked up a solitary assist from five appearances in all competitions this term and boasts a total of four goals and nine assists from 56 games for the club.
