Goals from Andros Townsend and Harry Kane have helped Tottenham Hotspur into a 2-0 half-time lead over Asteras Tripolis in a Europa League clash in Greece tonight.
It took the best part of 20 minutes for Spurs to fashion an attempt at goal, as Erik Lamela took aim from outside the box but saw his shot comfortably saved by Tomas Kosicky.
Tottenham, who beat their Greek counterparts 5-1 at White Hart Lane a fortnight ago, found chances harder to come by this evening.
However, they earned a chance to move ahead from the penalty spot after Khalifa Sankare fouled Townsend, who confidently dispatched the resulting spot kick on 36 minutes.
Kane, who bagged a hat-trick in that win in North London, picked up where he left off as Townsend turned provider to set up the in-form striker for his seventh Europa League goal of the season shortly before the break.
