Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that he is pleased with how defender Federico Fazio performed on his debut against Partizan in the Europa League.
The 27-year-old partnered Jan Vertonghen in defence as the duo successfully kept their Serbian counterparts at bay in a 0-0 draw in Belgrade tonight.
Benjamin Stambouli was another new face in Pochettino's lineup as the Frenchman made his first start for the club, and the Argentine says that he is happy with the pair following their summer arrivals.
"I am happy with the performance [of Fazio]," he told Sky Sports News. "It was his first game, like Stambouli.
"They played first time with us and it is always difficult to make your debut, but I am happy.
"I think the result was fair because I think that Partizan in the second half played well and we did well in the first half. In the end, it is a fair result."
Partizan are poised to be the subject of a UEFA investigation after their fans paraded an anti-Semitic banner, a gesture which Pochettino labelled as "unacceptable".
