Jan Vertonghen has admitted that he was left stunned by Erik Lamela's first goal in Tottenham Hotspur's 5-1 victory over Asteras Tripolis in the Europa League on Thursday.
Lamela found the back of the net at White Hart Lane by wrapping his left foot around his right leg to beat Tomas Kosicky with a rabona shot, and Vertonghen believes that the goal was the best he had seen in any game of his career.
"100% best goal I've seen live," the Belgian defender told Tottenham's official website. "I've seen a lot of YouTube clips but I've never seen a goal like it.
"I was stunned, for two minutes I was just thinking about that goal. I think the Puskas award is already his."
The FIFA Puskas award is handed to the player who is judged to have scored the best goal of the year.
