Tottenham Hotspur have beaten Tromso IL 3-0 in the Europa League at White Hart Lane this evening.
The first chance of the game fell to Danny Rose but his low drive was comfortably held by the goalkeeper.
Defoe opened the scoring for Tottenham in the 21st minute when he lifted a shot over Tromso keeper Marcus Sahlman.
The striker scored his second of the game after latching onto a pass from Lewis Holtby before sliding the ball home.
Gylfi Sigurdsson nearly made it three just before the end of the half but he fired wide from the edge of the box, before Defoe was denied a hat-trick when the keeper pushed his curling effort wide of the post.
After a quiet second half, Christian Eriksen scored his first goal for Tottenham when he curled a long-range effort over the keeper to seal victory for the home side.
