AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley says that he is "proud" of his team's performance against Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup.

AFC Wimbledon manager Neal Ardley has declared that he is "proud" of his players' performance during their 3-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur in the third round of the FA Cup.

The Dons kept Spurs at bay until after the hour mark when a quick-fire Harry Kane brace put the Premier League side on course for victory, and Ardley said that he was pleased his team made life so difficult for their opponents.

"We knew that it was going to be hard to get territory. We knew it was going to come down to a set piece or a moment to do something," the Wimbledon boss told BBC Sport.

"Plenty of Premier League teams have come here and conceded five. We had a few half chances, the gameplan worked for 55 minutes. He made good subs. He's not got bad players on the bench.

"I did make a joke at half time that just as you get tired they'll bring on the big guns. We knew that would be the case. We gave it a real go."

Spurs capped off the victory in the 71st minute when a rare Jan Vertonghen strike put them 3-0 up.
