Stoke City are heading through to the fourth round of the Carling Cup after a penalties victory against Tottenham Hotspur.
Neither side could get the upper hand in the first half and although the Potters put up a greater fight after the break, a dearth of goals led to extra time.
Jonathan Walters had the chance to finally put Stoke ahead just before the extra-time break, but his effort after a free kick flew wide.
The Potters eventually triumphed as the penalty shoot-out went to sudden death, ending with Massimo Luongo's failure to better keeper Thomas Sorensen, giving Stoke a 7-6 penalty win.
