Good afternoon! Thank you very much for joining
Sports Mole for today's International Champions Cup clash between
Juventus and
Tottenham Hotspur!
Juve are in action for the first time under new boss Maurizio Sarri, while for Spurs it is their first taste of a game since losing the Champions League final to Liverpool last month.
It promises to be an intriguing affair, even in pre-season, and kickoff is just moments away so let's waste no time in having a look at the team news!
JUVENTUS STARTING XI: Buffon; Cancelo, Bonucci, Rugani, De Sciglio; Can, Pjanic, Matuidi; Bernardeschi, Mandzukic, Ronaldo
Subs: Szczesny, Pinsoglio, Loria, De Ligt, Demiral, Di Pardo, Coccolo, Beruatto, Rabiot, Kastanos, Muratore, Toure, Frederiksen, Pereira, Higuain, Mavididi
TOTTENHAM STARTING XI: Gazzaniga; Walker-Peters, Alderweireld, Tanganga, Georgiou; Winks, Skipp; Lamela, Dele, Son; Parrott
Subs: Bowden, Lucas, Ndombele, Roles, Lyon-Foster, De Bie, White, Vertonghen, Whiteman, Foyth, Kane, Eriksen, Marsh, Sissoko
There are some star names on show today, then, including one of the biggest of all in
Cristiano Ronaldo. Gianluigi Buffon also starts for the Italians on his return to Juventus after a year away at Paris Saint-Germain, while fellow new signings Matthijs de Ligt and Adrien Rabiot could make their debuts off the bench.
Spurs are missing captain Hugo Lloris due to tonsilitis, so Toby Alderweireld wears the armband today - one of a clutch of first-team players alongside the likes of Lamela, Alli and Son.
There is plenty of firepower on the bench too - namely Kane and the wantaway Eriksen - while we could also see a debut for record signing Tanguy Ndombele.
KICKOFF: Here we go! Spurs get us underway for this pre-season clash!
This has been a really quick start to the game, with Spurs in particular looking to get on the front foot as soon as possible. Bright, positive start from the Champions League runners-up.
OFF THE POST! Sure enough, Spurs get the first chance of the game as Matuidi us caught in possession by Skipp and Parrot then threads a pass through for Son. The forward works a yard to shoot against Bonucci and, despite the angle being against him, manages to squeeze his shot past Buffon only to see it come off the outside of the post.
The crowd is on their feet every time Ronaldo even gets near the ball, and they would have gone completely wild had he connected with the bicycle kick he just went for. Alderweireld clears the danger before it reaches Ronaldo, though.
Emre Can does well to get his head to a corner despite the ball being behind him, but he can only loop his header comfortably over the crossbar.
SHOT! Good build-up play from Spurs as they patiently probe for a way through and eventually find it down the left as Georgiou cuts inside and clips a cross into the box. Parrot flicks it on and Son then takes it down on his chest, but the angle is again against him and he can only find the side-netting.
CHANCE! Big chance for Juventus, but Alderweireld does really well to thwart Ronaldo! The ball falls to the five-time Ballon d'Or winner inside the area and it is a surprise that he doesn't take it first time, allowing Alderweireld to get across and make the block.
Great pace from Walker-Peters as he bursts down the right and puts the ball past De Sciglio before being chopped down by the defender.
The resulting free kick is only cleared as far as Georgiou, who cannot turn down the shot but blazes it high and wide of the target.
Spurs are pressing really well high up the pitch in this game. It is only the very start of their pre-season but they already look sharp.
Juventus are seeing more and more of the ball now and, while Gazzaniga hasn't had anything major to do yet, you'd say that the Italian champions are just beginning to get a degree of control over this game.
Concern for Son here as he stays down after being barged into by Cancelo. It looks like he landed heavily and is favouring his wrist, but he should be fine to continue.
More smart build-up play from Spurs eventually results in Parrot having space to shoot from around 25 yards out, but he doesn't catch his effort and it is easily blocked.
We're midway through the first half in Singapore and the game has been played at a really good tempo so far. Both sides are going for it, which isn't always the case in these pre-seasons.
There has been a bit of a lull in proceedings since the fast start, with both sides struggling to find a way through at the moment. Neither keeper has had too much to do so far.
SHOT! Ronaldo has his first real sight of goal today as he picks the ball up in space on the edge of the box, but he rushes his effort and drags it well wide of the target.
Alli tries to thread the ball through the eye of a needle for Son inside the box, but the South Korean checks his run for a moment and that means that he cannot get on the end of it. It was the right idea from Alli, but just didn't come off.
SHOT! Son does get a chance to shoot here as he collects the ball outside the area, but his effort is always rising and flies well over the bar.
GOAL! JUVENTUS 0-1 TOTTENHAM (ERIK LAMELA)
GOAL! First blood goes to Spurs as Lamela taps home the opener from a rebound after Buffon had denied Parrot!
Parrot started the move by winning the ball in midfield and giving it to Son, who bides his time while waiting for Parrot to get up in support. The pass is perfect and Parrot doesn't do much wrong with his shot, but Buffon shows great reflexes to get down and make a fine save. He can only parry it into the middle, though, and Lamela is waiting there to tap home.
Time for a drinks break in the wake of that goal - it's hot and humid in Singapore, so the players need to stay hydrated.
Spurs have the ball in the back of the net, but the linesman's flag has already been raised again Son. It is a very tight one, though, and had it been a competitive game you can be sure there would have been more complaints against that one!
CHANCE! Gazzaniga is finally called into action, but it is a routine save for the Spurs skipper. Mandzukic climbed highest in the box to meet a cross from the left, but he could not get any power behind his header.
Almost another chance for Spurs, who are very much on top now, as Son lines up a shot from 20 yards but hammers it straight at Rugani.
CHANCE! You don't see this from Ronaldo very often! The striker's movement is brilliant as usual as he steals away from his marker in the area and looks certain to get a header on goal, but he completely misses the ball under very little pressure!
Pochettino will be happy with what he has seen from his side in this first half. They have been sharp, quick on their feet and are showing no signs of any Champions League final hangover.
Spurs fans will be eager to see Tanguy Ndombele in the second half, while for Juventus there will be the first opportunity to see De Ligt and Rabiot in the black and white shirts.
YELLOW CARD! Troy Parrott becomes the first name in the book for a high foot.
There will be a minimum of three minutes added time at the end of this first half.
HALF TIME: JUVENTUS 0-1 TOTTENHAM
The first half comes to an end in Singapore, then, and it is Spurs who have the lead against the Italian champions.
It is a deserved lead for the Champions League finalists too, having been sharper than Juve for the most part. Juve have had a couple of sights of goal, but for the most part it is Spurs who have been on top.
The only goal of the game so far came on the half-hour mark as Tottenham's high pressing paid dividends, with Parrott winning the ball in midfield to start an attack.
Parrott then got up in support to collect the ball back from Son and, while his low strike was really well saved by Buffon, Lamela was on hand to stroke home the rebound.
Son also hit the post within four minutes of kickoff for Spurs, who have looked the more threatening side throughout this match so far.
That said, Juventus have had their moments and Ronaldo in particular has been guilty of failing to make the most of a couple of chances. It is not a criticism which can often be levelled at Ronaldo, but he is perhaps lacking a bit of match sharpness right now.
As expected there are changes in the offing at half time.
Harry Kane, Jan Vertonghen and Lucas Moura are among the players coming on for Tottenham, while Rabiot makes his Juventus debut.
Gonzalo Higuain is also coming on for the Italian champions.
KICKOFF: Juventus get us back underway for the second half!
Here is the Spurs XI for this second half after five changes...
Brilliant from Ronaldo as he plays a superb pass into the box for Higuain, but the former Chelsea loanee tries to take a touch and the ball gets away from him.
Bizarre decision from the referee here as Lucas is chopped down inside the area, but doesn't get a penalty as Juve are awarded a goal kick! That had to be a spot kick!
SAVE! Bernardeschi drills a low strike towards goal from just outside the area and it is a good effort too, but it is too close to the keeper who makes a comfortable save.
CLOSE! Spurs come forward at the other end as Lucas puts his laces through the ball and fires a shot which zips narrowly past the post, with Szczesny struggling to get there at full stretch.
Another nice move from Spurs releases Walker-Peters down the right, but his cross is too close to the keeper.
SHOT! Lucas Moura pings a beauty of a pass over the defence for Kane, who takes on a volley first time on his weaker side. He doesn't catch it well, though, and he may feel that he should have tried to bring that down.
GOAL! JUVENTUS 1-1 TOTTENHAM (GONZALO HIGUAIN)
GOAL! Juventus have the equaliser just before the hour mark, and it is a really smart finish from Higuain!
The striker plays a one-two with Bernardeschi before taking the ball past a defender inside the area and sliding a confident finish into the bottom corner.
CHANCE! Big chance for Tottenham to regain their lead immediately as Kane rising highest inside the area, only to plant his header inches past the post. Szczesny was beaten if that was on target!
GOAL! JUVENTUS 2-1 TOTTENHAM (CRISTIANO RONALDO)
GOAL! What a turnaround from Juventus as Ronaldo gets his name on the scoresheet!
De Sciglio gets down the left and plays a low cross into the box which Ronaldo does really well to adjust himself for and steer his finish into the bottom corner. Really good finish from the Portuguese star.
In the space of just three minutes Juve have turned this game on its head, and suddenly they are looking capable of getting more too.
JUVENTUS SUB: Ronaldo's afternoon is over as he departs to be replaced by Pereira, while Matthijs de Ligt is on for his Juve debut.
SPURS SUBS: Spurs also make a couple of changes, including a debut for Tanguy Ndombele.
GOAL! JUVENTUS 2-2 TOTTENHAM (LUCAS MOURA)
GOAL! What an impact from Ndombele! With his first touches in a Spurs shirt he assists the equaliser, and it is a really good assist too.
The record signing threads a low pass into the box for Lucas, who gets in front of his man and fires his finish past the keeper.
SHOT! Ndombele is involved again here as he collects Kane's pass before trying to curl his finish into the bottom corner. It bounces a yard or so wide, but Spurs fans will be happy with what they have seen from their new signing.
This has been a good, entertaining pre-season contest today - probably the best of the International Champions Cup so far. A reminder that if we don't have a winner then we will be heading to penalties!
SAVE! There is no sign of it slowing down just yet either! Bernardeschi finds space to shoot from outside the box here and forces Gazzaniga into a decent save.
TOTTENHAM SUBS: Two more changes for Spurs as Marsh and White come on for Georgiou and Walker-Peters.
Just over 15 minutes remaining now and as things stand we'll be heading for penalties, unless either side can find a late winner!
JUVENTUS SUBS: Two more changes for Juventus as Kastanos and Muratore are introduced.
And we'll take this time for another cooling break too...
De Ligt and Rabiot have been quiet for Juventus on their respective debuts so far. Juve will be pretty glad that De Ligt hasn't had much to do, but they will expect more from Rabiot.
Still no Eriksen for Spurs today. The Dane is struggling with a groin problem at the moment and so may be held back for this one.
CHANCE! Sissoko drives forward after winning possession, carrying the ball a long way before giving it out to Kane. The Spurs skipper cuts inside onto his left foot, beating De Ligt but then putting his finish narrowly wide of the target.
CHANCE! Huge chance for Juventus at the other end! Higuain's movement is brilliant as he latches on to a through-ball to leave himself with only the keeper to beat, but he pulls his shot wide of the far post.
SHOT! Muratore tries his luck from range, but his effort is a long way off target.
Just a few minutes left before penalties here and neither side are looking particularly like grabbing a winner to prevent that right now. Juve are happy to just keep the ball at the moment.
It is Juve who are probing in these closing stages and Higuain wastes a good position here when trying to find Bernardeschi inside the area.
There will be four minutes of added time at the end of this match.
TOTTENHAM SUB: Worry for Spurs here as Skipps pulls up with an injury, and Pochettino will not take any risks. On comes Bowden in his place.
GOAL! JUVENTUS 2-3 TOTTENHAM (HARRY KANE)
GOAL! On my word! What a goal to win it from Harry Kane, who has just lobbed Szczesny from the halfway line in the penultimate minute of the match!
Lucas stole possession and Kane just let fly with a sensational first-time strike without even looking up at the keeper! Unbelievable goal from the England man!
FULL TIME: JUVENTUS 2-3 TOTTENHAM
What a way to end that game! Harry Kane has stolen the show with a quite frankly ridiculous winner for Spurs deep into stoppage time, bringing a fitting end to what was an entertaining contest.
Lamela had given Spurs the lead before quickfire goals from Higuain and Ronaldo turned the game around. Lucas then levelled things up and the match looked destined for penalties before Kane's moment of magic.
Right, that is all we have time for this afternoon!
Thank you very much for joining Sports Mole for today's pre-season clash as Harry Kane scores a last-minute winner from the halfway line as Spurs beat Juventus. I will leave you with our match report, and be sure to stick around for reaction too.
From me, though, it is goodbye for now!
