Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Nabil Bentaleb has said that he is "delighted" to have joined Schalke 04 on a season-long loan.
The 21-year-old completed his switch to the Bundesliga outfit earlier today having been limited to just two Premier League starts for Spurs last season.
The Algeria international had fallen behind Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele and new signing Victor Wanyama in the pecking order at White Hart Lane, and he is now looking forward to his new challenge in Germany.
"I'm really looking forward to this challenge at Schalke. I heard of their interest for the first time six weeks ago and, since then, I had been hoping that a move might work out," he told the club's official website.
"Thanks to their great fans, Schalke are also known as a big club in England. My visit here in recent weeks further confirmed this desire. I'm very happy and I now want to help the team reach their objectives for the season."
Schalke are understood to have an option to make the switch permanent at the end of the season.
