A Jewish Tottenham Hotspur supporter has claimed that he does not regard the club's 'Yid' chants as offensive.
A selection of Spurs fans have been accused by the Society of Black Lawyers of anti-Semitism by referring to themselves as the 'Yid army', but Jewish spokesman for the Tottenham Supporters' Trust Daniel Wyne disagrees.
"I accept what the word means, but I don't find the chant offensive when used by Tottenham fans," Wyne told BBC Sport. "In that context it is used positively as a call to arms, a badge of honour."
A group of fans hit back at criticism from the SBL last night by chanting "we sing what we want" during Tottenham's 3-1 win over Maribor in the Europa League.
