Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane 'not bothered' by goal appeal backlash

Tottenham Hotspur ace Harry Kane says that he is focused on overtaking Mohamed Salah at the top of the scoring charts after putting recent social media abuse behind him.

Harry Kane has insisted that he will continue to ignore the criticism aimed his way after his successful appeal for Tottenham Hotspur's second goal against Stoke City.

To the surprise of many, including Golden Boot rival Mohamed Salah, the England international was credited with the goal after claiming that Christian Eriksen's shot-cross touched him on its way through.

Kane was subjected to abuse on social media in the days that followed, which boss Mauricio Pochettino admitted hurt the 24-year-old, but he is 'not bothered' by the backlash and is focused on ousting Salah as the Premier League's top scorer.

"People are going to jump on the bandwagon and have a bit of fun on social media," he told Sky Sports News. "But it's my job to be able to be out there on the pitch and do my best for the team and work hard.

"It's just part of the game in this day and age. People can have their opinion; it doesn't bother me in the slightest. Some people can laugh at it but I'm just focused on my own job. Salah's been doing well and we've both got four games left so we'll just have to wait and see."

Kane, top scorer in each of the last two Prem campaigns, trails Salah by four goals at the top of the scoring charts after netting in the 1-1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday night.
